Mackenzie Nicole Kaye Moody is currently a fourth year journalism major and political science minor from Gaston, North Carolina at the illustrious Hampton University.

From a young age, Mackenzie has had aspirations of being on television someday. Whether she was in films, on tv shows, or reporting the news, she wanted to communicate with people globally. Since she was old enough to comprehend real-world events, her mother encouraged her to remain aware and educated about conflicts prevalent in her country and around the world. Her drive to use her voice and creativity to provide her community with information sparked an interest in a career in mass communications.

With an interest in national issues, global topics, and political news, Mackenzie uses her time at Hampton to harness her skills in multi-media. Mackenzie serves as Associate Producer for the Hampton University newscast, WHOV-TV, and Radio. Previously, she was a reporter for WHOV-TV and produced news packages for the weekly broadcast. She was selected amongst her peers to serve as Social Media Coordinator for the Hampton University Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) for the 2022-2023 academic year.

After her Junior year, Mackenzie was privileged to acquire an internship at her local news publication, Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald. There, she strengthened her journalistic writing skills while reporting on local events. She gained valuable working experience in the print news industry and is proud of the work she has published during her time there.
